A young man with his long hair held back by a red,
polka dot Alice band came to Seth at a run. “Your black outfit is in the first
cubicle, Seth.”
He looked at Bethany. “Sorry, I have no instructions
for you.” He glanced around seemingly about to get help for her.
“No, no, it’s okay I’m not an actor.” Bethany fished
her pass out of her pocket and waved it at him.
The young man nodded, and walked off.
Bethany watched him go, his all-in-one denim jump
suit sagging over his skinny ass. She looked around. In that short space of
time, Seth had vanished. Where is he?
Crap, if anyone really wants to harm him
they could easily do it while I gaze about.
Suddenly the exact words of the last letter sent to
Seth and Diane popped into her head. ‘You
are close to the end. I will get you when you least expect it’. Menacing
enough, but for them both to get it, and for them to have no connection with
each other was weird. She looked along the side of the marquee where a rail had
been set up and curtains on silver rings divided this area into what the young wardrobe
assistant had referred to as cubicles.
Seth appeared from behind a curtain close by.
Relief brought a smile to Bethany’s face.
He was dressed head to foot in black. His knee
length boots and even his weapon scabbard were black. He walked quickly to her.
She shook her head. “Seth, your eyes are...”
He nodded and smiled so that she needn’t finish
speaking.
“Green contacts—just put them in, well I didn’t Paul
did. I can’t do it.” He grinned, and waved a hand at an older man carrying a
white tray with little plastic boxes on there, and small bottles rattling
around who was now going into another cubicle. A wad of disposable gloves was
sticking out of his back pocket.
Bethany smiled. “It’s like a factory, put the person
in one end, another comes out at the end of the line.”
Seth nodded. “Yeah, okay, I’m reporting to the assistant
director now, and that’s it, Bethany, you won’t be able to come on set with me.
I’m in the main castle, and you’ll be left over fifty yards away.”
Bethany nodded, but worry rushed over her. “Well, I
better get as close as I can.”
